Milford Weapons Charge Lawyer

We Understand Massachusetts Gun Laws

Although the U.S. Constitution protects the rights of citizens to possess firearms, a complex array of state and federal gun laws have evolved.

For instance, federal law prohibits convicted felons from owning or carrying guns. Likewise, illegal immigrants, minors and persons convicted of domestic assault or subject to restraining orders are prohibited from gun possession.

Massachusetts law strictly regulates gun use and ownership within state boundaries. People who carry, store, or transport guns and lack corresponding Class A or Class B licenses can face severe criminal penalties.

The Taunton, Massachusetts based Law Office of Michael J. Brothers represents clients who are accused of illegal possession of firearms and other weapons. For more information about our services, call us at 508-944-3397.

Were You Profiled? Was a Weapon Used in a Crime? Our Attorney Can Help.

Possession charges often follow seemingly random stops by police. If you believe you were arrested and searched as a result of profiling and not due to a legitimate traffic violation or other reason, we can work to have your weapons charge dropped.

“I am dedicated to helping clients reach the best possible outcome, no matter what they are charged with, no matter how serious or how unpopular the charge. I’ll represent you because you have rights.” – Attorney Michael J. Brothers

In cases in which a weapon was used during a robbery or other violent crime, such as an assault with a deadly weapon, we can work to eliminate the weapons charge from any court proceeding. This can serve to reduce potential penalties while eliminating evidence that could influence a jury.

In possession cases involving improper police searches, our lawyer can file a motion to suppress any mention of the weapon in court proceedings. In all cases, we can search for any illegalities regarding an arrest, search or seizure of a weapon.
